Multiples of Fear October 24, 2007

Fear cripples.

Fear haunts you like a menacing spirit.

Fear thrives on doubts and mistrust.

Fear wakes us from thinking we are invincible.

A fire in a split second takes everything even your life. From the mansions to average size homes, you lose it to one flicker.

You casually go to the mall and boom! A bomb explosion and you see lifeless bodies around you and you try to run away. Morbidly, you find your mangled legs 15 feet away.

A get away vacation in a paradise. Coupled with bliss are swarms of suicide bombers.

Everytime you board a plane, the numbers 911 still lingers in your psyche.

Resting your head on the cold pole of the train, a crazed person swings his fan knife.

Call me paranoid. Call me ridiculous to fear for my future children. Who does not wish for a peaceful world? Who does not want to live without constantly looking over your shoulder for any imminent danger?

I pray for safety because I am honest- I do not want to die….not just yet.

If I ever do, I plead that my face and body would still be recognizable.

Agression is innate in us. . Most of us have tamed the beasts inside us but many, screwed up by their beliefs choose to unleash it.

Their ultimate goal is to take lives without remorse. This is the fear I cannot seem to shake off everytime I walk and turn to a corner.

*My heart goes out to the families of those who perish in the bombing of Glorieta Mall in the Philippines. To the officials of my country, please stop keeping track of your pork barrel and keep an eye on our nation’s security.*

now we are not alone, thank you.

you also fear like many of us.

But of the many of us, only few like you could emphatize because you did not build a wall around you.

without those walls, you could see the slithering darkness slowly descending before those outside yourself.

but as it is with them with the coming darkness, so it has become with you.

now, you have cast your own shadow and some of the others right behind, noticed that shadow and they have become one with you,

as you were with those before you, when darkness, barred by no walls, came slithering down to annoint its presence.

now we are not alone, thank you.
